HIDs turning off then on
 

Cold windy night, my DDM tuning HIDs are turning off then on then off etc. Bad ballast or something else?

I had this problem about a year ago - a new ballast cured it, try swapping them over from left to right.

I put my original Sylvania bulbs back in. The right side is not working so it could be a bad wire or connector, or my original bulb went bad. Anyhow it is too dark and cold to do anything more. One headlight will due for tomorrows drive.

Both of my HID ballasts have failed, but never the bulbs.

Turns out that I had a failing alternator which was low charging. The HID issue was the first symptom. The weird thing was I always got a strong start even on the day it left me stranded. I also had issues with my new radio turning off which have gone away since the new alternator went in. Before I realized I had a bad alternator I was blaming myself for bad soldering or pinching a wire.

I haven't put the HIDs back in yet (it's been cold!), but I think they will be fine too now that the alternator has been replaced.
