So where can I get the AUX input wiring for the 07' WRX style of Subaru head unit?

These are the options I know of currently:
  • Buy a whole OEM Aux pod kit (a little pricey, though). A P/N for one that goes in the center console in '08 and later Imprezas is H6210FG000. Installation guide (PDF file, from Subaru Technical Info site).

Close-up pics of a version that goes in an "ashtray pod" start here.

Note that on some models/years, the Aux plug that connects to the radio is part of a larger harness integrated into the dash wiring, and is apparently not sold separately (it would be too expensive anyway).
  • Custom cable made by "Tim-M" on various boards. Pictures here. Look a couple of posts down for one of his posts to click on his contact links. He also has a version with a 3.5mm stereo plug.
  • Hack together your own plug. The rows are four pins across at 0.1" spacing, a size used by lots of PC harnesses. Unfortunately, the two rows are more like 0.125" apart, so you can't use a 2x4 sized plug. You could stack two 4-pin connectors, or use a bunch of single-pin connectors (some USB harnesses use those to connect internally to a motherboard).
  • Pull one from a junked Impreza.

ADDED: I now have that 8-pin aux plug. See next post.

By popular demand, I'm now offering an SVX-to-14-pin Plug-and-Play Harness. This enables you to install an OEM radio from a newer Subaru using a single-piece harness -- no crimping or soldering required! Price is $32 plus shipping. See post #1.

I also now have the small, 8-pin aux plug used on some new Subaru OEM radios. On some Forester OEM radio models, the radio's socket also includes two pins for a 5th-channel subwoofer output that you might want to play with. E-mail me for details.

I know I am reviving a very old thread here but I am wondering is these couplers are still available. I bought an impreza 6 pack cd/cassette player the other day and one of these would make any installation a whole lot easier...

I believe they are and if he stopped making them I have one sitting here but try to get in contact with him first.

Yes, I'm still here and all of the harneses are still available. Give a guy a chance to answer his e-mail, eh?

ADDED: Actually, I remembered that you sent your message via PM. E-mail is the fastest way to get a reply from me. See post #1.

Are these harnesses still for sale. Thinking about going with an aftermarket HU.

The stereo shop can be butchers. This looks like a better option.

It's an excellent idea to bring a harness with you (not only for the SVX, but any Subaru) -- I recently got a call from an installer who admitted that he went ahead and did a hard-wire install because he couldn't wait a day or two to obtain the correct harness.

[Wow, it's been almost 10 years since I started this thread]

I have gotten 2 of these over the years. Worth every penny.

I'll likely be ordering one of these in the very near future - need to rip out the exist aftermarket stereo to see how butchered it is back there & figure out what I need from there.

you'll probably be hearing from me soon!

Hi. Sent you an email yesterday, May 20, 2013, to see if you still carry the SVX Forward Wiring Harness (need 1) and 18" Antenna extension cable (need 3). Thanks.

Re: For Sale: Radio Wiring Harnesses for SVX!!

Yes, I still have SVX harnesses available (as well as a whole range of other types for Subaru audio).

I've had several inquiries recently, with some people seeing the date on the first post and wondering whether it was still current. I do need to update the pictures that show the old geocities URL, and replace some hosted on ImageShack that died.

As always, the best way to contact me is via e-mail. If you insist on sending a PM, please include your e-mail address in your message.
