Tires again (Yawn)

As we've crept into another "Happy New Year", I'll apologize for not consulting the myriad of stored info in here regarding rubber. It seems every year there's a new "favorite" SVX tire. I'm now running Yoko AVS DBs with about 37K & 6 years on them; & have been contemplating a change this spring. I could, no doubt, squeeze another few thou' miles from these things. I've had no real complaints with the Yokos, even when showing off in deepish snow, but they're getting noisy as all well worn V rated products seem to do. The Beast has become more of a garage queen, so I can generally ignore any snow prowess required, as well as any ultra-super performance requirements, since I'm old, lazy, & use the Nissan for auto-cross jollies. Nonetheless, I'll probably go with an all-season performance product that will remain quiet for at least 20K. My latest Costco coupon book offers a $60.00 off deal on a set of BF Goodrich G-Force Sports. I don't yet know the price, which I'll check out later. If anyone is driving on these tires, let me know your opinion, OR your thoughts on any other "bargain" tires you're happy with. Thanks folks.

Ron (retired & need to be re-tired).

Ron, I always loved the price and performance of my last set of all seasons I bought. The cooper Zenon sport I believe they were. I might be a bit off on the name. Great all season and I even tracked them at Pocono with great success. They were sub $100 a tire so the price was good as well. Good luck with what you decide:)

Ron-

I just installed a set of Goodyear Eagle F1 all-seasons on the Audi and I am happy with them so far. They have great traction in the rain and are surprisingly good on ice as well. They are also quiet and reasonably sporty for an all-season tire.

They replaced a set of Pirelli PZero Nero M&S which were grippier on dry roads and not bad in rain and snow when new, but behaved more and more like dry summer-only tires as they became worn. I did get about 45,000 miles out of them though, and you know how I drive.

I second the Goodyears, got a set on the SVX bout 5K miles ago. December saw record snow falls here in WI and I have had no problems, heck I still haven't shoveled my driveway this year! Dry roads and rain seem fine too.

on the other hand I second the cooper xenon ( it is correct tire kind) and with 7 inches of snow drove ( very carefully mind you ) w/o any problem and for being a sub $100 tire it is a good buy for the performance that you get from them

I'm curious to know what you mean by correct tire kind.. Edit: Reread post, got it now!

*Cough, cough* Cooper Zeon (Not Zenon, not xenon;)). I've lost count of the number of Cooper tires I've installed on cars. The Zeon A/S are about as good as you'll find for something that's W speed rated and can still get you through some snow.

I have used Nokian tires for both summer & winter and really like them. They have come out with a new "All Year" tire as opposed to all season. The Nokian WRG2. It has a true winter tire approval. I'm not sure of the price but would give it serious consideration. They are available in 215-55-16 which was the OEM size for the '97 SVX and are "H" rated so will last well.

I also used Cooper XST summer tires a while back which I liked, but they were noisy.

I've also had the cooper zeon tires and they were good now i just got Fusion HRi all-seasons which were only $80 a tire and they are extreamly quiet and grippy

I'm very happy with the Cooper CS4 Touring all-season tires I bought recently. V-rated, treadwear 520, traction A, temp A, $130 each, mounted and balanced on stock wheels.
