what are you hoping to get for it? Sorry to see you are letting it go. I know you spent a lot of time on the 5mt.

Was that there from the start? I obviously missed it. Thanks!

I must say thats a hell of a deal for that car, even with the body damage.

I would love to see that car get a good home!!!:D

intellibomb 08-22-2006 11:29 AM

i feel your pain with the body damage....

damn the rear quarter panel being one huge unibody piece...

mine has similar damage and it is a B!TCH because you cannot really get it fixed without 500lbs of bond-o

that is otherwise one of the best svxi i have seen.

good luck selling... if i was close enough, i would probably buy it for the 5spd alone....

Can you get a new quarter panel from another car and swap it?

You can but there is a LOT of work involved with removing the welded in quarter panel.

davew833 08-22-2006 01:41 PM

Not only is that quarter panel hard to remove, but if the new one's not welded in properly the welds will start to rust through. It's happening to my '92 claret which apparently had the left rear q-panel replaced at some point. the welds rusted through the bondo used to cover the seam.

What about all the mechanical things listed? Do all these things NEED to be fixed? If so how much money would it take to do all this. I am asking because it seems to be a good deal, but I don't know much about working on the cars. Seems like they may be expensive repairs if you can't do them yourself.

1. Initially off the line there is clutch chatter but can easily be avoided by babying the clutch engagement. A simple flywheel resurfacing should fix this problem.
2. There is a bearing noise in the driveshaft that is noticeable at highway speeds. I should have swapped in the SVX center bearing. The simple swap should get rid of the noise.
3. The clutch release bearing is making noise; the noise goes away whenever the clutch is pushed in, it is barely audible but I can hear it.
4. The shifter has excess side-to-side movement so it needs new shifter bushings.
5. The car needs new brake pads.
6. The exhaust is also making noise at 3,000-4,000 rpms. The catalytic converter needs to be replaced and is rattling, pre-cats should be used instead.

Thanks for looking guys.

I'm honestly hoping to get whatever I can get within reason. If it sells for $1500 I'd rather start stripping the car and parting it out. Don't want to but I will.

The repairs can be expensive if you don't know what your doing ...the release bearing itself requires pulling the trans. But none of that NEEDS to be replaced (yet) - they're all just annoyances. ...the brakes are one thing though - those DEFINITELY need replacing but that's easy.
