legacy trans
im worried the transmission in the 4eat in my legacy is going out, ill list the symptoms and if someone could shed some light id really appreciate it, thanks:)
1. slams from 1st to 2nd 2. when giving half gas uphill it will will be around 4k rpm and then without anymore throttle input it jumps 500 rpm and then shifts.. 3. when cold and first putting it into drive it jumps and stalls.. |

If the fluid is good, the slam from 1-2 usually means the shift resistor is giving you trouble. When you start the car does the atf temp light flash like the power light in the SVX?? Tom |
Id also check the tps (throttle position sensor) voltage reading, make sure thats where it needs to be. the tcu uses readings from the tps to determine when to shift, and it seems it could be a common link between your problems

My friend's 97 Legacy GT did that for the 3 years he owned it until it finally suffered from a HG problem. It was a very harsh shift even at low RPM gear changes. |
i dont notice a loud bang, just jerks the car bad when shifting, ill check the fluid and tps tommorow, and tom, i thank you for being a good guy after what happend, :o

when you post reasonable things, expect a reasonable answer... I was just having a little fun.:)
