1972 or 1974?
Two different Chargers that im currently looking at for a project, i need to decide which one would be the better purchase (the '72 would have more of a centimental value). Both have the 318 V8 and automatics. I'll probably post pictures later.

Are both cars in similar condition? What about mileage - is that similar as well?

Did a quick google image search, looks like the same body style- so unless inspection requirements are different take the car that better suits your needs. (condition/price/options)

Chike, the '74 has about 80k the '72 is not listed. Also the '74 looks to be in alot better condition, the '72 will need engine work but i am looking to get a project car.
Napa, The body style is basically the same, in '74 they added the luever (spelling?) style windows behind the door. My moms first car was a '72 Charger so i know she would enjoy getting to drive around in another one. The '74 is here in town (not to far from me) and the '72 is up by Fort Worth (6+ hour trip) dustin |

I vote 72...looks like an absolute monster.

Dustin,
I voted for 1972. I know nothing about Chargers, Mopar, or Hemis. All I know is that I don't like hemis because it's a catch phrase and now means nothing. I selected 1972 because in that year, Led Zeppelin toured the world. Thit hit America, Japan, Australia, and Europe. In fact, that was one of their best periods. Their stuff between the Untitled and Houses of the Holy albums is just mind blowing. So, if Mopar is anything like Led Zeppelin (and I know its not), then selecting the year that fits most closely to perfection would be the best choice. Good luck! Eric Edit: It's not that 1974 was a bad year for Led Zeppelin, but it wasn't as good as 1972. In 1974, Zeppelin unleashed Swan Song, their private record label. Basically, the band took the whole year off. They had been touring every year since 1969, so some break was needed. They also began recording tracks for their sixth LP, Physical Graffiti which would be released in 1975. |
I vote 72, looks better, nicer rims and all. Plus, 72 was just the greatest year for births of awesome awesome people (me), only the smartest (me) best looking...ok, so you get the point :D
Dustin....I thought you were going that way when you talked about the 72 having more sentimental value, but then you mentioned the thing about your Mom, but that is a good thing too. Good luck!! |

performance seems to be better for the 72 but I have to say I absolutely love the 69 & 70.

Not so good news
My hopes of having a project car have probably been crushed(ok, ok, so the SVX is a project car but thats different). We've been doing alot of stuff with the band lately and it turns out soon im gonna have to put more time into it, so that lessens the amount of time i'll have for a project. Also, money might be alittler tighter than what i hoped for (we need a new 800$ mixing board). I'll get back to you all with any new information as soon as i can.
