chrome front grill
 

Today I saw a 1997 black SVX with a chrome front grill. I go to the Subaru Generalimporteur Switzerland and ask for this part. They say, not anymore available in Switzerland.

Is there any possibility to order this through internet (URL?)? Can I put this grill on my 1992 SVX with no problem? Thanx for feedback!

Yes, you can put this one your 92 without any problem. The part costs about 130 from my dealer. I think you can order it straight from him but you might want to check subaruparts.com first.

If I recall, it does not come in chrome from factory -- yes it does.

OK...

from the factory, it comes in 2 froms. chrome finish and regular unpainted. You can paint it to match or you can get the chrome grill. I think I like the chrome grill though

I have been in contact with Japan Direct Import Service in Kyoto City, Japan (This is where I get the hood emblems from)

The S40 chrome grille IS a factory part and IS AVAILABLE there. The cost is 34,100JPY ($290.55 US) plus a 12.5% commission of 4,262JPY ($36.32 US) or $326.87US plus shipping

Even---IF---I liked it, wouldn't it cost less to just get a '97 grille, and have it painted in a chrome??

Yepp. That's what I'd do. I have chrome paint. The 97 grill runs at around 130 from my dealer.

I'm starting to get interested in this. Who is your dealer? Do you quote them often because they are a reputable place to order parts from, or, just 'cause they are close?

Then, could you order the part from any dealer?

You can order any parts from any dealer. The dealer then of course charge what ever he wants on top of the SOA's price. My dealer is:

Crig is the parts manager. He is realiable and quick (normally) and I get the parts at pretty much without any profit for the dealer. If I recall correctly, Subaru of Schaumburg is the second biggest parts supplier in the mid-west.
