Top Speed?

Being as bored as I am at work, and in the interest in general stupidity....

...how fast have you ever gone in your svx?
(or how fast have you ever been in a car?)

$VX 12-17-2002 12:00 PM

129mph.
117 in an accord
118 in a neon
135 in a mercedes 500sl

I believe the speedometer is quite inacurate at high speeds as I have had my spedometer reading ~152. It is my understanding that the 95's are limited to 143.

I think we already did this thread a month or two ago. Search the archives and you'll find a long thread on the same exact topic ;)

RodimusPrime 12-17-2002 12:35 PM

my speedo read 135, I think that one was right tho

108 in my Olds (hit the governor like a brick wall:D )
100 in 4runner
95 in '80 volvo 240 (down hill)
120 acura tl type s

I actually drive slow for the most part, but every once in a while it's nice to go nuts

Uncamitzi 12-17-2002 12:51 PM

I'll bite

I had the pearlie up to 138 on the speedo....on the Pacific Coast Highway last spring.... then I backed down... still had plenty of pedal left and I got scared.... even more so when I found the bent link arm on my rear suspension

It's OK, going back many years, only my Lee Cougan has two wheels these days. The most scary moment I had was with a front tyre blowout at 95mph on my KH500 (showing my age now) Slid 175 yards on my rear, lucky the leather saved me.

yeah, my b/f is fully loaded with protective gear...NO COMMENTS FROM THE PERV GALLERY! he is still a little nervous about driving it, he only took me out on it once, and we didn't go over 45mph. there is a pic of it in my locker if you want to check it out. his brother on the other hand is an absolute nut case on the bike..not riding for a full two months and he is trying endos and wheelies :( i just hope he doesn't get hurt

Fastest in a car Formula Firebird 144MPH
Fastest in a SVX 107MPH (not as into the top speed as I used to be)
Fastest on a bike 137MPH on Super Magna (a lot tougher on a crusier with no windshield than on a sport bike:D )

Andy, great coincidence.

The guy who did my bearing and cam belt recently has one. Real neat. Hardly a mark on it, except for a few spots of drool. He loves it, keeps it pristine.

I only got to 145 on my VFR 750. Did 130 in the R5 Turbo. Incidentally, I always used fully synthetic with the turbo. The turbocharger heat killed the oil very quickly. I found if you wanted to do high speed runs, you could lose as much as 5 mph with fresh oil. The new oil was more viscous. However, it thinned out a lot after 4-5 thousand miles. Naturally, if you kept thrashing it with worn out oil you run the risk of bearing damage or worse. But 5 mph is not to be sneezed at:D :D :D
