Window Tint

Ah.....another window tint thread. You read them a billion times. Here's another. :-)

Just read the Delaware motor vehicle equipment laws.
http://www.dmv.de.gov/services/drive...quipment.shtml

Under tinted windows, it says, "Window tint is prohibited on the front windshield below the top few inches of the windshield (specifically not below the ASI masking on the windshield), and on the left and right driver side windows. Tint material also may not be installed over any lights or the vehicle’s license plate."

I tried to look up what is defined as a 'window' on the car. Various definitions were:
quarterlight - car window consisting of a small pivoted glass vent in the door of a car
rear window - car window that allows vision out of the back of the car
window - a transparent opening in a vehicle that allow vision out of the sides or back; usually is capable of being opened

All this to say that I'd like to tint the transparent roof portion on the driver's side and passenger side. What were your experience with doing this?

legalness..I dont know. but personaly, I think tinting just the upper portion of glass looks odd without doing the lower portion too:o

Thanks! That is just further confirmation that I'd love to do it. Like odd looking! That's one of the reasons why I purchased the car in the first place. Is 'odder' a word?

I guess it may depend on how it's being tinted exactly? I would expect the top portion to be tinted darker while the main window/lower part to have a lighter tint, yet still be tinted. I'm not sure if I could tolerate Limo tint at the top and 100% shine at the bottom... it'd feel weird, I think...

I've always tinted "Just the upper "Fixed" windows on mine, and I love it that way, accents the "Window in a window" makes it more pronounced.

Plus you can still see out the lower half at night just like stock...

So does it not change the feel of anything when your driving or would you say it makes it cozy feeling?

I Really like it this way...the fiwed windows being tinted catch all the "Late evening sun" that you can't block with your visors...

Huck,

That looks really nice. Thanks for providing the pics.

I want to eliminate the noticeable difference of having the double window and I think doing 15% all around would look really sharp, and kinda blend the seals between the windows more for a cleaner look... especially since my car is black too...

Thanks Kevin,
