gas everywhere

I was grounding out a wire today, and it came to the middle of my back seat, so i took out the seat and drilled a hole, pulled out the bit and gas shot out  I took some of this stuff I had laying around, it's used to make engine seals and gasgets and a screw w/ a really wide top, screwed the screw in half way, covered it in the stuff, then screwed it down the rest of the way, and covered the whole area w/ it...

I drove around w/ it, and it seams fine, the hole is compleatly sealed off from what I can see, just gave me a little heart attack

warning to all!! gas tank right under back seat!!!!

This is too little too late, but you shoud've used one of the anchor bolts that are already there. They generally have much better mechanical strength and grounding, provided that you scrape off any paint around the area.

yeah, and the thing is I tired that, but the terminal ring was too small to fit over the bolt. BAH! This is what I get for rushing things

You should have read the R&T Guide of the SVX. They tell you that gas tank is under the rear seat as well as it is made out of plastic.

Screw loose

Be careful Everclear!

I don't think your screw and gasket cement is a good long-term fix. The chemicals in the petrol may affect the rubbery nature of the gasket cement, and anyway, you have connected the tank to the floor, and vibration from the weight of the tank may affect the seal.

Go to a tank specialist, get them to seal the hole properly. I believe the tank is a b*tch to take out, but leaking gas is as bad a hazard as you could contemplate.

Better safe than sorry.

Well while you have the opportunity, perhaps you should just add a hose and connect it to a backup fuel tank and see if you can go 800 miles nonstop. ;)

Well, hey, at least you realize that. Lesson learned, right? :)

Just don't go drilling holes in the car all willy-nilly any more. :D

Okay, I admit it, I just jumped at a chance to use the term 'willy-nilly.' It's funny to me, okay?
