Weird Tranny?
I was wondering if anybody else had the same problem as me. When i floor the car, it will go good then when it gets in high rpm's it will kind of like bog and drop to like 3-4k rpm's and then go good again. Transmission is fine besides that. I dont know if it is supposed to be like that.. or is something is messed up. I was talkin to a guy with a 94 and his doesnt do that. Could it be the year? i have a 1992.
HELP IS REALLY APPRECIATED.. |
At what speed/RPM does it start to do this?

You got a cone filter?

Explain exactly what happens.
You floor it, meaning accellerate to redline? Or does it even get that far? Kinda sounds like you are saying as the rpms rise, it will hesitate for a moment, then continue. My car does this if I drive aggressively with low octane. There is always the chance your lower gears are in the first stages of binding and being lost, so I wouldn't do that anymore before we can figure out what's happening. |
no it drives awesome, and then when it get to the redline/shift point it wont shift smooth it will like drop to low rpms... so it slows the car down, most cars it will **** and still stay in higher rpms when it shifts into 2nd not this guy. I MEAN THE CAR HAS BEEN DOIN IT FOR YEARS.. SINCE THE CAR HAS BEEN IN MY FAMILY IT HAS BEEN DOING IT.....

Does this happen only at redline or anytime in the upper rpm band?
Now it sounds like you hit WOT, and after it shifts from first it goes down around 2-3k rpm in second, when it should be around 4-5k? I can't fathom why it would do that unless there was something sapping the power away. |
Fix your AWD before trying to diagnose any other transmission problems.

Your AWD vibrates?
And you "keep the fuse in"? The FWD fuse? Keeping the FWD fuse in for extended periods will destroy a vital part of your drivetrain. Can't say which, because it will likely be whatever is weakest. Differential, trans, solenoids... The longer you keep it in the worse whatever problem you have will get. WOT means Wide Open Throttle. It's the term for depressing your gas pedal all the way. I'm going to look at some videos of mine and see at what rpm second should come on at during WOT. |
First to second shift should drop to 4300 or so at WOT, at about 46 mph.

Unless you are spinnig your rear tires, that's impossible.
