225 55 16's?
Just found these on craig's. Seems like a pretty good deal to me. Would I have any rubbing issues? How would the wear on the tranny be? $150 for a set of winter tires is pretty nice.

Re: 225 55 16's?
Should not be a problem, as the 97's came with 215/55/16 tires.
The critical part is the offset. As close to +55mm as possible. . |
Re: 225 55 16's?
The difference in size is 3.46%, the recommended maximum is 3% but they should be alright. Here's a link to a comparison chart: http://www.1010tires.com/tiresizecal...?action=submit
Hey svxcess, do tires have an offset? ;) |
Re: 225 55 16's?
You'll be good. I recently picked up an SVX that was running 245/45/16 tires on stock rims.:tard: Guess he needed them for extra traction for all teh p0w3r!!!

Re: 225 55 16's?
Offset?
The one tire being at 7/32 vs the rest being at 6/32 isn't going to kill me, right? obviously if it was more extreme I wouldn't even consider it. |

I'm running 225/40/18 with no issues, a 55/16 shouldn't rub either.

Re: 225 55 16's?
They're quite old, WS-50. 5/32" is about the limit for good snow traction but they should be good for this winter. I have a set that came with my '97. I used them last winter on my '92 and they were excellent. Mine also have about 6- 7/32" left so this will be their last winter.

Depending on how much you drive, and providing you change them out as soon as possible come spring, you could probably get 2 winters out of them.
