Going past 250,000 miles
Sometime tomorrow my SVX will pass 250,000 miles. :D
Wow, a quarter of a MILLION miles. I feel like celebrating. :D |
Wow. Impressive. Its not on the original tranny is it? Would be interesting to get a summary of all the major maintenance you've done to the car to this point.

Lets see I bought the SVX with 90k on it,
Replaced the AT transfer solenoid around 120k miles to fix the RWD and the tranny mount. Saw writing in the AT pan that said 34,000, assume it was rebuilt then. So it's still got all those clutches working away for 216k miles ;) No rebuid yet since I have owned it......... I hope I hope I hope Replace the engine with salvaged 90k engine around 150k cause the head gasket went, radiator too  it's been posted. Replaced the rack, steering coupling, valve cover gaskets this past summer with new ones. Replaced engine sensors along the way, TPS, o2, knock, coolant. Replaced struts a few times, brakes rotors, spark plugs, T-belts. Hit a couple of deer along the way too. The ac is still original so is the CD, cass, radio. Ran it in a time trial a few years ago and that was very hard driving for about 3 hours. The engine leaked oil everywhere. I think the SVX is made very well and will last a long time if it's not abused or driven real hard. Heck a car that was made for 140 mph should last a real long time if it's driven real slow. :D The body is holding up well cause it was repainted before I got it. There is a little rust starting in two of the wheel wells and where there was boo boo on the rear quarter panel. I still get 25 mpg driving 130 miles a day. Still handles great in the snow. Still very quiet inside. Still has lots of zooommmmm Uses about a qt of oil every 2000 miles Still just real fun and amazing to drive. :) |
Congrats! That's one high mileage SVX that's serving you well! 25mpg is amazing at that mileage!

"svx_commuter" is right! Way to go! we need some of those badges like the volvo high mileage clubs. Sad tho that you had to replace everything but the kitchen sink.
|
That is great! Keep it going for the 300K mark! ;)

ice-cold every time - don't need to recharge, still with "R12" :D Yeah, don't drive too fast about 100mph is just fine. :D Still pretty good mileage...burning oil? :p :D |

I had it changed over to R134 after a leak showed up. Well it would have to burn alot of oil to get past the CAT's from what I understand. Oh yeah it still has the original exhaust TOO and CAT's!!!!! The pipes look good but the flanges are getting pretty thin. They will wear out or just break off before the pipes go. |
Congratulations!
I really need to get mine back on the road so I can beat you to 300,000 miles ;) Although at my paltry 235K (for the last 30 months), I have a way to go to catch up with you. Doug |
you are probobly loosing all of that oil through your front seals. I can replace them for you if ever get down to south Jersey again :) Congrats on hitting some very high mileage. Keep in touch if you need any help keeping her going I am always an SVX mech on call :D

Front seal is just fine. It's the rear seal that's the only one leaking. Lucas heavy duty oil stablizer helps. :) I don't plan on changing it any time soon. |
