How do I install a new shift module?

Seems simple, but....can anyone provide directions on how to remove console so I can install a shift module I bought on ebay? I'm tired of pressing the shift lock everytime I drive....thanks, mk

I believe that the shift lock is controlled by the main computer. In a neighborhood that could be a higher risk of car theft, the computer senses the condition and goes into the shift lock as an added deterrent. Having to press it "every time I drive" just means you are in the highest level of alert! The government actually has a color for that!!! It would probably be red for you... possibly a dark orange.

Mine has been on red and I have had to push the shift lock button ever since the day our new neighbors moved in. With our SVX's we get it all!!! I love it!

Hope this helps.

Keith:)

There are 2 long trim panels that go along the bottom of the cigarette lighter and ashtray. pry these off and you will see 1 gold screw on each side you need to remove. Next take the shifter bezel off by removing the ashtry so you can lift up on the bezel, also unhook the door lock switch if you have one. Remove the screws at the bottom of the console when you open up the lid at the top. Remove the E-brake handle. then slide the whole console back towards the rear seat a little and then pull up and its off. the shift module shoudld be behind the Ebrake if I remember right.
