2003

After our wonderful 2002 meeting, maybe we could think ahead to next summer.

How about a multi-centre meet in mainland Europe over a couple of days that could be incorporated with a regular family holiday. I don't know how many Euro owners there are, but if we could contact a few, they may like to organise a days entertainment in their locality.

If you are reading this Marty, what do you think?

Any other comments?

How about the Alps?

We usually go to the Swiss/Italian Alps every year, and last year (May) we saw 3 SVX's in 3 days: A silver one in Bourg St. Pierre, a beautiful black one with silver bonnet stripes in Interlaken, and another black one in Bellinzona. There seems to be a multitude of Subaru's in that region, possibly due to the snow and ice in winter.

Anyway, next year we're planning to take our SVX with us and we'd love to meet any European owners in the area. The scenery is great for photos too.

Yodeleedleaydeedee!

Yes, I think mainland Europe might be good, even a weekend in Amsterdam would be nice. We could check out Larry's amphibious kit on the canals.

Marty, what do you reckon?

Switzerland is really easy on the eyes. Was in it once many years ago, but it was also very sore on the wallet. Maybe things have improved, I don't know. As Ireland is Euro, I would be happiest going to a Euro zone country. Devon was fun, but for a whole week I would have to remortgage. Cost me 315 Euro to buy £200 Stg for petrol money. Ouch! and that's without the hits on the credit cards next month.

Swish cars in the Swiss Alps!! Why not??

Meeting

Hello to all of you!

I like your ideas pretty much.
I think it would be possible for sure to have a meet in central europe, but the question is, who will organize such a thing?

I know three SVXers around the mainland.
One is from Germany (RSK), and the other one is from Switzerland
(SVX_CH).
In Austria I have never seen another SVX except my own, so I was impressed cause you told of seeing three SVXes in the alps!
I would go lots of miles to have such a great event.
I think there are no members from france or holland!
Yeah, Amsterdam would also be a pretty good place.
I have never been there and it's not that far away.
Would be great if we go somewhere, where we/you know some people, because of organising.
I am going to talk to SVX_CH about this one.

SubaruUK?

Andy,

I know you were going to send info to your contact in the Subaru UK agency for inclusion in their trade mag. Any progress?

As I was only with you for a few hours on Saturday, I really need some details of the rest of the meet.

If anyone would like to fill in the missing hours, please let me know. (literary skills prefered but not essential.)

Phil em up

I reckon Phil is the man here Andy. He has agreed to write up a report. What's more, he was with the Sunday group, and so should have all the news.

We will get on his house till we see a draft.

Incidentally, anyone who was on the trip, you might write down some thoughts, fond memories or anecdotes about what you enjoyed, and send it in a PM to Phil. He can then include your comments, or cut & paste or rewrite to suit the report.

I shall take my own advice, and send on some comments. We can't expect Phil to do all the work, but it does make sense for one of us to co-ordinate and formulate a report.

Joe:)

I am meeting the local motoring correspondant on Saturday as he is very interested in covering the meet in the local rag. He has never driven an SVX an like a mug, I have agreed to let him loose in my baby for a couple of hours. I will put a copy of the article on the forum.

Phil, would it be OK to use one of your pictures, they seem alot better than mine?

Firstly, appologies to Tony and Andy who I have repeatedly confused with eachother. I'm useless with names............

Yes Andy, that's fine. If there is a specific pic you want e-mail or PM me with your e-mail address and I'll send the original. The review had kind of "stalled" but I'll get right back on it so I can send it to you Andy.

Hey it's no good you blokes running off and enjoying yourselves, if there are no photos.

Where's the photo of Joe under the table ?, or the one with all the bonnets up?

We might be on the dark side of the earth but we are still there in spirit.

Just butting in, as Yanks are known to do. I suggest an international meet at a central location. Make that Hawaii! Now wouldn't that be a dream?! If we could only shrink these cars to "carry-on" size.
OR - Could one of you engineering types bone up on your teleportation skills?
Thanks, Ron.

Calm down Harvey, there are some photos in my locker. Also try "Andy"s locker.

There will be a "Commemorative" CD with as many pics as I have at the time. If you're interested drop me a PM.

Phil Hill.

Ere Ron, if we had teleportation sussed, there would be a lot of those California girls missing, presumed in action.

And how could Hawaii be central, it's in the middle of nowhere?!
Now Birmingham, that would be central all right.

Joe:) :D

Thanks Phill, great photos, I see Joes standing up there, must have been at the start.

How about some info on the "big brakes", I fancy some double sided calipers. Also what the manual box is out of ,what final drive ratio was used. How does it go?????

Wished I was there.
Harvey.

Well, Joe, I DID consider Antarctica as a central point since it's a downhill drive for all of us, but all the women are penguins, so I lost interest. Birmingham's fine as long as it's the one in Alabama, USA.

Ron.
