Where do the headlights ground to the chassis?

I'm talking about the wires that go from the bulb to the chassis.. When I turn on my headlights my driver's side HID bulb will flick on for a second or two, then off. I thought it was a bad ballast and Dayle was nice enough to send me new ones, but it's doing the same thing still. I've tried four ballasts, two bulbs, and swapped relays on that side - all do the same thing. I'm guessing there is a bad ground, so where can I find it to scrub away with a wire brush?

look in search, I BELIEVE that they are earth ground, not common ground I personally just took my volt meter out and tested the leads for +/- you might try doing this to see if you get a flicker in power from the wires under load I dont know beyond that. if they are earth ground you should be able to run a seperate wire for ground to the lights from the frame or batt.

The headlights have a constant supply to 12+ and the switch supplies the ground. Check a wiring diagram before you go altering the wiring or you will fry something.

My regular halogen headlights work fine, zero problems. Not sure if that helps any, but whatever. I'll try T'ing another wire off it to the battery just to see if it works.

I installed the old "broken" ballasts and now they work fine. The ones Dayle shipped me were the same name brand but look different.. not sure if they have different electrical workings? but anyways yeah maybe they work now that I got a new battery in the car. Hmm, oh well. One of the few happy endings on this forum :)
