trim/dash removal

i am going to install reverse glow guages, and you are all quite informative on how to do that...thanks.... but the question i am having the hardest time finding an answer to is.... HOW DO I GET TO THE GUAGES WITHOUT DESTROYING MY DASHBOARD!!!!!!

ive attempted and stopped before i made a mistake that would break my trim.... if anyone has a step by step on how to get to the guage cluster without killing my car, it would be much appreciated.... photos would be nice too, or some schematic.

there are 2 screws under the alarm/foglight switchs and 2 under the hazard/defrost switches. then there are 2 or 3 screws under the rim of the dash. unplug the switch assemblies for the foglight/alarm and the hazard/defrost switch and remove the switches. the whole trim panel will then be able to be removed and once you get it out a little you can unplug the clock and then set the trim panel aside out of the way. next remove the clear lense over the gauges. where you wire them in is up to you but i used a wire i found that goes to the alarm/foglights/cruise switch that shows power only with the lights on and i used one of the bolts that holds the panel on underneath the steering column for a ground. the bolts for that panel are one behind the change tray and one behind the parking light/heated mirror switch. let me know if you need to know anything else. good luck

carefully pry the switches out with a small flat screwdriver.the screws are behind the switches.

When you get finished removing the 6 screws holding the dash cluster, make sure the steering wheel is in the lowest tilt position. Carefully pull the dash cluster out towards you just enough to feel it let loose from the 3 plug harness....then tilt the top of the cluster towards you and remove the cluster sideways towards the center counsel.
