Help please!
Hello,
My crankshaft pulley came loose and the belts came off as I was driving, and I put the belts back on. It looks like there was supposed to be a key to hold the pulley in place for timing purposes? Now that I have the belts back on, everything turns but it won't fire. Does anyone know what's wrong? Is the timing off maybe? Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you. Allen |
Check again the alignement of the timing belt. It won't fire if is misplaced.
Let us know if you need the timing marks. Mkey? Ovidiu |
Hey,
Thanks for your reply, but it wasn't the timing belt that came off. the two accessory belts in the front (power steering, a/c, alternator) are the ones that came off. any thoughts? Thanks again. Allen:) |
I'm hoping you replaced the key? It makes a huuuge difference. Also make sure the belts didn't destroy any wiring when they came off, such as a cam sensor, etc....

Beav, I wasn't sure if there was supposed to be a key. Is there? Because there is a little groove in the pulley, but I didn't see one when I put the belts back on. Thanks.

Without the key the t-belt sprocket will spin on the crank snout. Be sure to check all keyways (grooves) for damage before inserting a key, otherwise your new key won't last long.
