government gross polluter buyback program?(cali) general car question
I rmemeber hearing about a california government program
that would buy cars from you that met certain restrictions * gross polluter * older than XXX years just to keep them off the road? I also remember 500 dollars as the amount. Can someone confirm, deny, or obfuscate my recollection? :) official info/websites, forms or hearsay welcomed I need more info for my dads old cadillac. My svx smog tests reveals it to be the cleanest running car in the family :) |
Yes, you are correct, and if I've heard correctly, I believe they've upped the dollar amount to $800. And there is a $1000 offer if they car doesn't pass smog. You'd want to contact the Bureau of Automotive Repairs. They're the ones that handle the administration of that program.
