New bike is coming together (pics)

Got the cafe racer I'm building somewhat together for mock up and determining what needs cut off etc.

The tank that is going on it will be 70s bowling ball orange, black and white. I'm thinking of painting the exhaust guards (which aren't on black), seat frame white with a black high density foam on top, frame white and then all the motor mounts, front fender and chain guard black.

What cha think?

Cool looking bike. The tank looks good the way it is imho but the new one you are going to put on will too. You got the handle bars yet? How fast will it go?

The tank that is on it now has more rust than a Subaru in Saltwater. Yeah I have handlebars but I have nothing getting cut off up there so no need to put 'em on. It'll probably top out right around 85-90mph. Remember it has an engine the size of my lawn mower and pressure washer.

It'll weigh about 210 wet. Handlebars are the standard aftermarket "clubman" bars which are shortened 2.5 inches on either side. In effect they move the grips on the bars forward about 2 inches and down about 4 inches from the top of the triple tree (fork mount to frame). Long term I'm planning some mild cams and uping the compression to about 11.5 to 1. This should put HP ouput very close to 30hp (stock is 20hp) and top speed of about 105 at 12k in fifth! Then do some AMARA racing and take it for the 600 mile lake erie loop race around lake erie. It won't be a comfortable ride

I'd never heard of Cafe racer so looked it up and got the background. Cool story. 85-90 is way fast enough for that thing. What's it weigh a buck 25? I asked about the handle bars just to see what configuration they were.

That'll look cool and no it won't be comfortable for very long (depending on how old you are. Don't wait too long for that race;)
When you get it running, post some film of how that sucker sounds:cool:

I can already tell you how it sounds... As bartone as a Harley or Farley without the abnoxious "look at me I'm old, fat and amist a mid life crisis" pipe farts.

In other words it sounds just about the same as any even firing twin at 10k.
