Full Time Dash Vents
It's easy once you know how. Anybody interested?

Ummmmmmmmm what is it?

While the ignition is on, put the climate control in Defrost mode. Looking up from the driver's foot well at the heater distribution box, behind the radio, there is a 4 fingered hand that is positioned by a cable and rotates around a screw in the palm. Each of the fingers has a post at the tip that slides in a channel in the white door lever that the finger controls. The longest finger points down and is closest to the seat. If you disengage that post from the white lever, then push the white lever toward the radio the dash vents will be supplied with air whenever the blower is on. To make this permanent, reach in with needle-nosed pliers, grab the finger right above the post and bend the tip away from the distribution box such that the post will now be parallel to the distribution box instead of pointing toward it. That's it.
The supply is still controlled by the individual dash vents. This modification is reversible, but you'll want to remove the hand to do a good job. (Remove the screw and detach the cable end) My wife is thrilled that she can warm her hands in cold weather. Enjoy! |
I like it
I think I would like to have this.I hate not being able to controll heat to the vents when its cold. Thanks, good info.:D

Re: Full Time Dash Vents
I was just wanting to ask about the dash vents and did a search and this popped up. My wife also hates not having the vents. She thinks the "vent" button should mean the vents instead of outside air.

Re: Full Time Dash Vents
Great info!!! I was gonna be looking into this soon as I despise having my car tell me I only want cool air on my hands and face, lol.
(I did this with my Audi 5k last winter but it required a switch, some soldering and rerouting of some vacuum lines) |
Re: Full Time Dash Vents
Has anyone done this and taken pictures?

Re: Full Time Dash Vents
I just wanted to make sure what I was getting into.
A few weeks ago I took out my front seats to steam clean the carpets... and looking up there I couldn't decipher which wire outta which hand to remove. |
