The Mustang is a short car and a wagon version may appear stubby (Like the WRX wagon) It is an attractive body style and if the stylists just take their time and do it right, it may work, But this is not it:

Look how unique the Amadeus would have been if produced from the SVX design. It was sleek and flowing and as unique as trhe car that inspired it.

But one of my favorites (That never saw production) was the 1978 Pontiac Firebird Kammback

Need I remind you of previous sports cars made wagon-ish. (I think these are aftermarket, but still.)

Ford does know how to ruin a cool car. The original Thunderbird went from a sharp 2-seat sports-tourer to a bloated, wheezing land yacht within a decade, and we all know what fate befell the original Mustang. That they returned to the classic late-60s Mustang styling cues was a good thing, but it should come as no surprise that they'll eventually muck it up yet again.

I think Ford is trying to get steal buyers away from the Dodge Magnum/performance wagon segment of the market. I'm not a fan though...

Speaking of early Mustangs, taste was bad way back then.

And the same with 60's Thunderbirds...

And in the memorable words of Forrest Gump:

Bad Ford, bad! If they want to get into a slugging match with the Magnum they should come out with something that doesn't smear the image of the Mustang.
