Back to the “original and traditional” Reading and what has always worked. Always imitated, never duplicated.

Now that the date has now been established, the next step is to use this page to list the members interested in attending.

Even if you are remotely planning on going, just add your name to the YES or MAYBE section of the signup list; you can always move it between the lists or remove entirely.

This will be the only website where all things related to Reading will be stored and kept current and easily accessible.

I have already posted this event over on SVXNation and advised the members over there to check over here for the latest information.

All names on the list with the * at the end were found and imported from the SVXNATION and SVXWN Facebook pages. See if your name is already on this list before adding it here.

With only 7 actual confirmed network members signed up; it may be a hard sell to get a decent block of hotel rooms, based upon past contracts which did not meet minimums.

If anyone on the MAYBE (tentative) list has changed their status and decided to attend, just remove the “tentative” after your name.

I need to show Holiday Inn a bigger commitment from us to obtain their cooperation. This is nothing new, but necessary to get the ball rolling.

So with all the "tenatives" and the ones on Facebook who say they are going, but are not part of the network, exactly how many attendees am I going to approach Holiday Inn this year in obtaining rooms? The Maybe outnumber the Yes by almost 2 to 1.


Has the status of anyone on the "MAYBE" list changed to "YES" ?

Or would we rather dispense with the block and have everyone call in and reserve separately?

I've never been to a Reading event, at least not that I can remember, but I'm getting old and the gears don't work as well as they used to.

Count me in for a "maybe". don't live very far and it's been a while since I have been to a good Subaru event.

I will donate some raffle goodies to the cause either way so give me an idea of what type of items are needed and desirable so I have some time to gather them. I'm willing to donate Subaru Gear items or commonly needed replacement parts that are obtainable. :)

I've heard of "Reading" before, is it in Pennsylvania? What does the meet entail? Is there a reason you have to RSVP with the hotel? People can't just show up? It's an IHG hotel, it sounds like... Can I use my rewards points to stay there or???

Although not a founding member, within this forum I ago back a long way and am fully aware that Reading as an event, has formed a core part in the activities holding the place together. Therefore I have read through this thread as a matter of genuine interest and it is clear that a single member is now flying the Reading flag alone.

What surprises me is that John has not received a vote of thanks or even an appreciative comment, even though the work he has done and doggedly continues to do, must be apparent to all. I do not have a hope in hell of attending much as I would like to, but can say, thank you John, you deserve much more support than is currently on hand.

Yeah it definitely seems like the forum is a much less active place than it was 10-15 years back, but I guess the cars have gotten older and harder to find, and even the ones that are low in miles and in good shape are starting to need parts that Subaru doesn't make or sell anymore, and are not available in the aftermarket.

On the plus side, I get lots of "oh man, is that an SVX. I haven't seen one of those around here in such a long time". I don't think there are too many left in the area.

And if the value of the car is to be maintained or better still increased, this forum remains vital and members should appreciate that the existence and popularity of the forum means money. The SVX is capable of becoming a collectors item, provided that it is properly promoted. A lot of stuff included in posts displays it as a lemon.

I'm on the other end. While I actually owned a 92 back in 94; I only recently got back into the svx (a 93!) and just found this forum. Being new, the first thing I did (after getting a username) was donate money. Forums like this one truly help keep the car alive from a maintenance perspective and this place has already paid me back as a maintenance companion.

Can't wait to meet everyone at Reading!! My first one.

I was just informed by Garth McDonald "Donnyreb" that he has purchased his plane ticket to attend Reading in 2019.
Since he is leaving from Singapore this time the route is different.

That's a 13,500 mile trip each way! 29 hrs. flying time one way!

He flew in from Sydney to LA, then to Las Vegas to Lafayette.

Garth will be spending more time in the air getting to and from the meet than actually being there.
And all it takes is an unforeseen last-minute delay or problem with his flight for him to miss the meet entirely.

And just for fun, look up ticket prices for premium economy and you will see true dedication! Then add meals and hotels, etc.

This was meant for those on the list who committed with a definite YES (including me), who have not followed through by even letting us know they have booked a room. The “rooms booked” thread has not seen any responses since created over 4 months ago. When we could not get the booking commitments, the block of rooms we used to reserve was dropped and attendance declined.

I understand those on the tentative list, who are interested, but can’t commit fully because of the reasons you cited.

Or the other way around. This list has not been too active. And neither has the hotel “rooms booked” thread.
