6mt axle seal swap for svx axles
 

I was wondering what are the related surfaces that determine whether the axle seal needs to be replaced on the 6mt to accomodate the svx axles.?

To use the front SVX axleshafts with a 6mt you need the front 6mt transmission stubs with the correct seals for them. The seals are left and right side specific, the stubs are the same each side. You will also need the c-clips for the stubs. I got all 6 parts from Subaru new when I put mine in. Very easy to install the stubs and seals while the transmission is still out.

When I did my swap I used my automatic stubs, just put the 04 seals in the 6 speed.

Axle seals
Left 806730041 $3.78
Right 806730042 $3.78


Then just reused my svx front axles as well.

Just as a side note you can not reuse the 6 speed seals even if they are in good shape, I bought a 07 trans with less then 12k miles on it the seals looked perfect so we tried it, they leaked. Putting the 04 seals in no more leaks

Oh I know I changed the seals, but i think the previous owner had also changed the seals to the same one (i'm assuming it was in a wrx at some point) but the question was in general when looking at it.
