chrome stock wheels

I own a 96 lsi with 41000 mi. that I aquired last march. The car is in great condition with the exception of the wheels. All 4 wheels are pitted, not real bad but enough to bother me. I have seen pictures on this site that show the stock wheels that have been chromed.I have had other cars with cromed stock wheels and I like the look. Anybody have any first hand experiance with getting your wheels chromed?

I have no idea who's car it is, though.

Oh, and Tom KNOWS his wheels are on backwards. He likes them that way. :D

Seasvx had his chromed. I think he has some pics in his locker. :)

If you want the same look but a lot cheaper, get some stamped steelies and buy the cheapest hubcaps at any k-mart or shopko. You usually see them on Prizms for some reason, but they look a LOT like SVX wheels, only ghetto chrome plated ABS plastic.

I cannot believe that you would actually reccomend that to someone...

You get what you pay for.

keep in mind that the chroming process will weaken the wheel. also, once they start pitting, there's not much you can do for them. i'm gonna go for a silver painted wheel at some point, because any curb rash or scratches can be touched up. :)

Yeah, well, I can't believe someone would pay over $100 to have their factory wheels chromed.... I think they're hideous when they're chrome. Not as bad as the arelli assassyn, but..... meh... if its a choice between blowing $600 on chroming the stock wheels, or spending $1000 on new wheels and tires.... I think the choice is easy. >shrug<

In my experience, they're too much of a pain to keep clean. Brake dust seems to accumulate along the inside edges of each rim about every two weeks and some of the chrome has come off in flakes as a result.

PM seasvx, he just had his chromed a few months ago and had the wheels and center caps done at the same place for a fairly reasonable price I believe. He's been very pleased with them and hasn't had problems.
