EJ22 Turbo pistons
I want to build a turbo svx motor and the idea of fitting these pistons greatly appeal to me over forged custom pistons. As you all know There is no documented fact of this ever been done. I would like to change that. All I need to discover this possibility is a used svx piston in a standard bore B or C.
I have a 2.2 turbo shortblock ready to fit it into. If anyone knows where i can get this svx piston please let me know. |
i doubt they are the same bore
|
They ARE the same bore and stroke....
the EG33 is basically a EJ22 with 2 more cylinders |
I just paypaled tomsvx he's got the piston. Yes the bore and stroke are the same but if the rods are different it might not work. as soon as i get this piston i will be able to find out for sure. Ill post the results.

It will go out on Monday after the holiday weekend is over... sorry for the delay

Thanks Tom, Im in no hurry.

if you need anything else i have a stripped motor i can donate some parts.

Thanks guys. Im waiting for the piston Tomsvx sent me. if it dosent have the pin i will need it too. I already took the heads and pistons off the 2.2 block. So far I have been comparing specs from the ej22 manual and the svx manual. the piston diameters, bore diameters and clearances are identical but I cant compare the piston pin diameter since the svx notes i have are missing that data. The 2.2 pin diameter is 22.994 - 23.000 mm. Can anyone confirm this to be the size of the svx pin? There are other things to compare as well like the piston skirt length and conecting rod width and length and if the piston sticks out past the deck. I cant wait to get the piston so i can install it on the 2.2 block and answer all these questions.

I shipped the piston all the rings on it... the pin and the circlips that hold the pin in

no offense to lan, but i asked him for an idea or something a while back and i don't know remember what he said i just remember it being a dick comment. so i'll keep my altenator bracket.

Guess what fellas, The pistons are a direct fit. were in buisness. I installed the svx piston in the ej22t block and it fit like a glove the piston protrudes a tiny bit over the deck but the turbo piston is flush at the deck that means that the turbo piston will not protrude over the deck in the 3.3.
Yeah Baby! If your cylinders are good all you need is a light hone, the turbo pistons, rings and pins an you got lower compression. I would like to calculate what the compression will be with the 3.3 heads. help me figure this out guys. I can cc my ej22t heads. Can the commpresion be figured out if we had both the 3.3 and 2.2 CC volumes. The ej22t has 8.0:1 compression. lets say the ej33's CC has 5 more cc's than the 2.2 heads what would the commpression be then (obviously lower)? Lets figure this thing out. Later, Obi |
I forgot to say the turbo pistons are ceramic coated from the factory too :)
|
Good to hear that OBI, do they fit also on the rods?
|
ok ok, before i get to excited, they way i read it i'm taking you checked the rods to? i'm just trying to be sure it looks like you have too. if you did you are the man and i'm very greatful to you for doing something nobody has done yet! if you ever need something that i can help you with don't be afraid to ask...
alright here's what's next. Group buy on pistons!!!! |
