RS Liberty Club Cruize

Hey All

On August 14 I will be attending the RSLC Oberon Cruize, and i was wondering if anyone would like to come keep Me and My SVX company on the day!!!!! :D

I have been on other RSLC cruise days and they have been fantastic!!

The Event: As posted on the RS club forums:

__________________________________________________ _______________

Summary:
When?: 14/08/05
Where?: Krispy Kremes Penrith
What Time?: 8:30 Meetup with a 9:15 SHARP departure
What do i need?: a CB, Food and drinks for the bbq

Note: Everyone

Now the cruise meeting location will be Penrith Krispy Kremes in Sydney's West at 8:30am sharp with a 9:15am sharp departure! with a full tank of fuel every servo you can think of is on the same road as Krispy Kremes! if you don't make it by this time then you will have to catch up with the rest of the group at the next meet point easy as that, unfortunately there gets a little bit of traffic and with us leaving at the time we should beat it, hence the early departure! Ok now we will be heading up mitchel's pass this little road only goes for 5 minutes or so but has 3-4 nice hairpins not much rooms to go quick but there are some excellent photo opportunities here and up and over the blue mountains basically as soon as we turn off Mitchel's pass then there is one road which will basically take you all the way to Lithgow/Oberon so NO ONE will get lost, plenty of awesome scenary on the way that will blow your mind away, down Mt Victoria etc, add to this that the way we are heading will have some of the coldest spots in NSW and may snow so rug up and bring your beanies!. There will be a few meet points on the way to the cruise and they will be determined closer to the day. We then make 1 turn off the main road and proceed to the main meet point, which is right outside a huge pine forest with plenty of room to throw the frisbee and soccerball and cook up a storm or two! once we have finished there we will make our way back to Sydney and i will be able to show you guys the easiest quickest ways home.

Guys this is a cruise/family day so bring your friends, your family and kids, the cruise will be just that A CRUISE there will be certain parts of the cruise that we will have the odd squirt but this time it is just a general cruise and not a flat out race meet!, i don't want to see anyone pushing anyone through the twisties or up someones a$$, if you want to do this then get up the front and go for it, we don't want that sort of behaviour on a family day cruise, i have not seen this behaviour from any of our rs guys before but have been on another cruise when this $hit happened so just a heads up guys. If we want to go flat out through twisties then i will organise a cruise especially for this ! ...

As usual everyone will have to have CB's they are quite cheap these days and are a 100% worthwhile investment for cruises, you not only know whats going on with the cruise but you can be warned of emergency's, there also a great tool if you want to overtake that 3 cyl charade but can't see whats comming! ... so everyone get one you tight a$$'s !

Ok so everything is organised BUT the food side of things. Now i am not sure what you guys want to do, rather having to bring all your own stuff and then try and find your own bbq and cook from there , but i thought that a better idea was to get 1 person to organise the food/drinks and then we get to the meet point we all throw in $5 - $10 each and have one person cook it all, of course it would need to be a volunteer otherwise someone will be appointed! heheheh jks...

So there ya go...

On the previous events i have atended the group has been very happy to see other model subarus attend so i dont think this will be any different (I have even driven with a Vortex XT!!!! and a turbo leonie). I would sugest however that you organise your own food.

There is also a meeting point at narellan maccas at 7:45am!!

If anyone can make it please let me know so we can wait for you if your late!!

Hope to see some of you there!!!!!! PLEASE :D

cheers
Jake

3 of us went on a Liberty B4 run a while back - quick cars! Was a classic to have left Krispy Kremes and driving along, see another SVX heading the opposite direction - his head was fully turned around and staring as he went past, however, was not a true SVXer who would have executed a 4 wheel drift and came after us!

:)

Beware of Mr Brake Fade though!

I'll see how things pan out with DFR... I have flight screening that is probably going to be little to no warning, or possibly need to return crew a yacht.

If not, I will try to be there.

And JAM ain't kidding about Mr Brake Fade... you'll have no brakes if you aren't careful, as heat buildup on these dinky litle discs tends to kill your braking.

Thanks for the invite to the drive Jake...

I would have loved to take part but it is on at the same time as the City 2 Surf and i have to beat Chris' brother!

Have fun- they seem very well planned

I can assure all, that the SVX all wheel drive system comes in very very handy when Mr Brakes has gone on holidays down the Macquarie Pass and you face the prospect of running into the back of a 355!

:o

-JJ- 08-04-2005 04:23 AM

haha, your speaking from experience i assume?? :D

Jamsvx 08-04-2005 10:06 AM

Moi?? :D

Suffice to say that an SVX is a lot more capable on the windy and twisties than some Ferrari's think

Will say no more

;)

:o

Absolutely.
...But it was an Audi RS4.

And Mount Victoria is also a hideout for Mr Brake Fade too, and the old Bulli Pass.

And going UP Macquarie Pass, the only time a Lamborghini Diablo gets away from an SVX is when it is on the straight at the top.

It may have more poke, but an SVX out-brakes and out-corners it on those twisties, and thus gets caught up to Mr Lambo on every turn. And carries more corner speed, too.

I have no idea where I came across that bit of information.

-JJ- 08-04-2005 06:41 PM

haha, i love it, but im gonna try my hardest to treat my baby carefully.... still getting use to fast cornering and the gears.... it will be very hard tho i get excited :D especially when the is a bunch of other subbies all doin the same. all the speed limits of course

also i realy hope you can make it McTaff, your the only maybe so far.

Going down Jambaroo(?) is another candidate, and the handbrake can only do so much!

OK, the cruise, I'm hoping that my latest bit of maintenance will hold together and I shall attempt to join the drive.
Had the water pump start leaking the other day and using past experience regarding Subaru pricing, I decided I would try to use what I thought might be similar in an EJ22 pump.
Once at the wreckers, I found the EJ20 pump looked identical so got that and went home to begin pulling things apart.
This is not a job like on an old holden where you just unbolt and change...
You have to remove both accessory belts, most of their pulleys, then the timing covers, Then the timing belt, and then the left cam pulley!
Having done this (well most anyway) I find the EJ20 pump is about half an inch shorter than the EG33. BUGGER!
Thereafter follows 3 wasted hours trying to track down a genuine pump, which I found can be had for a mere $140 odd, but with everyone saying "yes I can get one, but you have to wait a few days to get it" while my car is already in bits, and the wife wants her car back.
Then someone says, "why don't you just make a spacing adaptor?" and eventually I figure, I've got access to a machine shop, and I've done this before (my power steer pump), so off I go and come back later with an adaptor!!
I wish I'd taken a photo, maybe I will when it fails :o
Now all I have to do is re-time the cam belt and bolt all the rest of the accessories back in place......
Watch this space. :D
Arthur.

Punny joke.

.........and things are looking up. Don't have me a CB radio yet - bit short on cash for that kind of thing. But I may be able to squeeze the cruise in before I go to work Sunday night, provided I don't have to move house.

-JJ- 08-07-2005 07:17 PM

Sounds great McTaff, if all goes well and you do make it will you be meeting with us at the Narellen meating point?

JDW-SVX 08-07-2005 09:52 PM
