Correct Idle RPMs: Park and Drive.

Your SVX has:
1) A 4 speed Automatic transmission,
2) Warmed up completely, in the summer weather,
3) The Airconditioning is OFF,

In the previous SVXes and my current one, I have noticed that at idle after warmming up, it pointed to around 650

CDG 09-09-2003 10:38 PM

Mine is usually well under 500, it appears to be close to the half way mark making me think its at 250 rpm, but not likely.
It appears to cause my trany to fall asleep. I'm very curious as to what every one else is idling at.

uhhh........What's Park and Drive:confused:

:p :D :D :D

I picked 'over 500' for both, because my car idles properly at the prescribed 600(ish) point.

i think its supposed to idle at 680.
mines bobs up and down from 800 to 400 whether its in park or drive. i installed a chip to let it idle at 900, and is the only reason the car now runs without cutting out.

Idle

Hi Chris, The owners manual says 610 rpm in park/neutral. Take care, BOBB

Might I ask where you got that chip? I'd like to have a little more control over my idle, since my car is a little sporadic with the idle speed.

Yes my car sometimes idles around 1500 ish for some reason, I shut if off, then restart all fixes some times. I am replacing my PCV this weekend to maybe that will fix it.

thanks cya :)

pic in my locker
the stg 1 g-box chip is pretty generic. got it from next level performance about 5 months ago and am doing the testing for it on this vehicle. if everything with the car is fine it will bump up your idle to give you a quicker start off the line. a second chip with switches is almost ready too.

its the only thing keeping me on the road

I made a mistake, mine is actually right around 650. Since I posted this poll, I have watched it closely, and its pretty consistent. I do feel that if it was a little higher, like it is when the A/C is on, it appears to respond better, and grab better from a stop.
