Window tint: How much did it cost you?

I've been quoted over $300. I'm not paying that much.

etz bseder 06-24-2007 09:19 PM

That's too much

i believe that mine cost about 195 for the 4 windows and the back, and a stripe on the front windshield.

What % does everyone go with???

dannmarr 06-25-2007 03:24 PM

In the tinting price book it's $350 for an SVX because of the extra work involved. If you can get it cheaper, than it's a good deal. PA and Delaware have the toughest laws on tinting. I was told 70% was the max.

I regrettibly paid $240 for my tints, only to remove them a few months later. The tinted windows mess with your eyes, it's annoying, and all the cops stopped me even though it wasn't all that dark, just because the car looked so unusual.

Tints are teh suck.

Parkko 06-25-2007 09:10 PM

cost me 290 $ for red taint for back window and side one.

I paid $130 for my tint, and it comes with a lifetime warranty. The guy said I can bring it in and have it re-done for whatever reason I want, it was the same price no matter how dark or what color tint I decided on also. I think he did just above limo tint on the rears and rear window and whatever is the darkest legal on the fronts, i've been thinking about having him re-do the rears alittle lighter because its kinda hard to see out the back at night). He did a very nice job IMHO, it took awhile but thats because he kept cleaning around the weather stripping everytime he saw dust/dirt particles come out from under the weather stripping.

Make sure its done by a good shop. My $240 tint job on the Volvo had a ring of air bubbles around the edge where the tint met the black paint dotted edge of the glass. Never looked good in my opinion, but I am a perfectionist at times.

I was quoted $250 by a reputable shop for mine, and I will be investing in that once the new interior is in. 35% all around (legal limit in most states, and it is reasonable to see out of at night)

jman050 06-26-2007 07:44 PM

mine was $180 for 15% all around with lifetime warranty. Im gunna be going back to get the fronts redone though because theres a bunch of tiny scratches in the film from rolling up and down.

BluebyU 06-26-2007 08:35 PM

funny you should ask

I just had the windows on my Suzu done today and when I went to pay for it I asked about the SVX. He said it would be $225 with a lifetime warranty. I had 20% from the rear doors back and 35% on the fronts. When the SVX gets done, I'll just do 35% all around except for the back window which will be 20%. I have to protect my ecsaine seats!!

I see vehicles with a slight mirror to their tint but doesn't seem overly dark. Is this anything special? I'd like to tint all of my windows but primarily to cut down on the UV and protect the interior. I don't need a dark tint. The sun at 7,000' elev is scorching on the cars

Delaware eh? That's just great!

I just wrote a letter to a guy who makes pre-cut tints and asked him how much interest he would need to make a set pre-cuts for our cars.

How much interest do we have?

Jvan 06-28-2007 07:47 PM

I'm interested depending on degree of tint and color choice.
