Good all season tires for stock rims?

I live in Canada so we see a whole variety of weather. I hardly know anything about the topic of tires, but I do know that I will only be able to afford one set of tires. So what is a good all season tire with emphisis on performance and average tread life? These will be going on the stock rims.

I like the Continental Extreme Contacts for the snow and rain and they are quiet but they are not the best dry road tire. I think I will get at least 60k miles out of them.

Mizery,

Do you get alot of snow & ice during the winter where you live in Canada? If you do, you should think about dedicated winter tires. If All-Season tires will suffice (only you can make that decision), the TOYO Proxes 4, and the Continental Conti Extreme Contact tires should do the job.
Good Luck.

I recommend getting winter tires now and start saving for summer tires. All-season tires just don't cut it for me in the ice/snow and the difference is night and day.

I bought a set of 4 Dunlop Graspics from Walmart last year for CAD$300

Supposed to be pretty good for all season w/ lots of snow

Personaly, I've got Pirelli P Zero M + S, but haven't had them out in the snow yet, so can't give you any guidance on them.

The snow in Toronto isn't that bad. Alot of slush though.

Based on my experience with the Nokian Hakapolita snow tires and NRV summers, I say these new ones look like a good bet. You may want the 215/55/16 rather than the 225/50/16

Here's a link to Canada Safety Council which may be helpful.

I'll be dammed. Those Nokian WRA 4 seasons are actually rated as snow tires by Transport Canada.

What a coincidence...that's the size of my winter tires. Dunlop Graspics CAD$74 each from Wal-mart.

Another size option is 205/60-16

i personally love my pirelli pzero nero(black)s because of everything about them. The treadwaer rate is 400 they are supposed to be reat in the snow(hasn't snowd yet) and they are excellent in rain and dry. These are like glue. and on top of all that, they are 100bux a tire. can't beat the price either

Actually, 205-55-16 is the closest to stock overall diameter. This is what I run with my winter tires (Hankook W404 winter radials). I love these tires. The SVX is a complete beast in the snow with dedicated winter tires.

By the way, 205 barely fits on the stock wheel, but it plows through snow real nice.

Yes it is. I mention 205/60-16 and 215/55-16 because they are a little taller and give a bit of ground clearance without putting the speedo out by too much.
