AC Leak...Where to look?
Replaced compressor, worked fine, with new oil and light charge. After a couple of days, no pressure. I'm going to change O rings and try again. Any advice is welcome. Where to look? Should I use leak stop?

Re: AC Leak...Where to look?
Always replace any disturbed o rings. Never use any kind of leak stop on any fluid system, you'll do more harm than good. The most common a/c leak that I see in the shop is from a condensor that got hit by a rock.

Re: AC Leak...Where to look?
Mine was leaking where the line comes into the condenser in the lower right corner. My solution was to ignore it and never use the A/C system. It will be coming out this summer.

Re: AC Leak...Where to look?
I've seen a bunch of svxs leak where the lower line comes into the condensor. I'd start there. :)

Re: AC Leak...Where to look?
I've had the high pressure hose from the compressor to the condinsor (the one by the battery) go bad, and start leaking through the rubber part of the hose....

Also had the worked-for-a-day-after-replacing-the-compressor thing happen, and it was the O-rings. dcb |

Must be a mounting fault.:( Harvey. |
Re: AC Leak...Where to look?
My high pressure hose leaks were its bolted on top of the compressor were the metal line is welded to the bolt on end.

Re: AC Leak...Where to look?
Thanks to everyone for the help. So far in 5 months of ownership I've fixed major problems...power steering leak, overflowing and AC leak for less than
2 bucks... Any other O Rings I should look to replace? Too bad trans didn't fix so easy... "Got a low maintenance women and a high maintenance car." http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/imag...es/leright.gif |
