New wheels!

Hey guys, just picked up some new wheels today, here's some pics of em in the bed of the truck, got back too late to mount em.

I got the genuine Enkei wheels w/the 4 tires (only 2 are good) for $250, then 4 Bridgestone RE92's (might be 93... not sure) for another $100. Pretty good deal! I don't know what exact kind they are, he said he had to call Enkei because he wanted the lightest 17's they make, and they had to make them for him, apparently they don't make many because they're expensive and don't sell?

Anyone have any experience with those Bridgestones? Are they good?EDIT: They're 92's just went and checked, and reading up on tirerack.com looks like they have pretty decent dry traction, wet is average, but watch out for snow and ice! Good thing I'm moving to Florida. :D

Here are some pics!

Yay Craigslist! Tell me what you guys think - I'm hoping they'll look good on the car. We'll find out tomorrow... ;)

I like em. looking forwards to the pics on the car.

Thanks man, I'll make sure I post em up tomorrow. I'm going to try to get them mounted on the car after work, then go to the tire place w/the Bridgestones in the trunk, and have them mount 'n balance it all.

So you were looking at them new -do you know what style they are then? Or were you looking at the same Craigslist ad???

Looks sweet dude. That color should look sick on the sedona. Hope the tire place doesn't rape you on mount and balance. We'll have to meet up so I can get a closer look. Well I'm gettign ready for work so I gotta go. Later dude

No, they are on ebay once in a while.

I ended up with a wheel very close to the SVX geometry instead.... but bigger diameter, 1/2" wider. They suite the car well (see sig) over all I'm happy, just wish I had saved some weight in the proccess.

...now, to find winter rims.

Ah. Yeah, that is the one nice thing, is that these are super light. Unfortunetly, they're stock width (7.5). So I think I'm going to run over-sized thickness (235).

I hope they don't rape me either - I'm going to ask em how much before I have it done, hopefully it'll be around ten bucks per corner.

Nice looking wheels:). Scott (what was his username again:confused:) had a set on his red '96 and they really looked good. I don't believe that they are the lightest Enkei wheels however. The lightest would probably be the RPF1.

The RE92 are the stock WRX tires and are pretty universally despised by WRX owners. Many better choices from many makers-including better Bridgestones, especially considering you should never have to deal with snow again. You might want to look for some RE070's (stock '04-'07 STi tires-225/45-17 summer rated) on NASIOC. Many STi owners dump them cheap and "upgrade". I got a full set with less than 5k miles for $250. The Bridgestone RE-01R is a great tire too. Kumho, Dunlop, Yokohama, Toyo, Michelin, lotsa choices for you. Good luck with your selection!

Thanks for the great advice Todd. My hope for the tire is that it makes it to the winter, then I can upgrade to "ultra high performance", since, like you said, I don't have to deal with snow anymore. The RE01's are definitely on the top of my list - I want to get 235's, so the stock STi size of 225's is not really what I want to look at. I might settle for it after seeing the prices, however...

As for the weight, I'm just conveying what I was told - it's all a game of heresay at this point. The individual I purchased these from said "I called Enkei, and asked for their lightest 17in wheels - they told me these were it, and they had to put in a custom order for them and everything. This was about 9 months ago, and they cost about $1k".

Anywho, here are the pics I took!

If you can't tell from all the pics I took, I like em.:D They are, in my completely biased opinion, some of the best looking wheels I've ever seen on an SVX.:p

Lemme know what you think!!;)
