Sounds Like Bearing!
I recently put in some front bearings I bought when I did my rear bearings a few months ago. When starting, I noticed a torn outer boot on the driver side axle (grease everywhere!). Soooo, I replaced both front axles (reman, Napa, $60), installed bearings (I had been hearing whining bearing type noise for some time), rebuilt calipers (seals, booties) and installed high-tech pads (EBC Green Stuff Kevlar front, Akebono ceramic rear).
The whining bearing type noise is still present! Tell me I don't have a bad rear or front bearing so soon! I took all care not to damage hubs or bearings during removal/installation (used HubTamer). Is there another part that might be causing such a sound? LIKE A DRIVESHAFT U-JOINT, OR A DIFFERENTIAL NOISE? Also, I've balanced my front tires twice (NASCAR machine) and still get intermittent steering wheel shimmy? RACK AND PINION? MOTOR MOUNTS? HEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLP! THANKS!  :D :D |
It could be tire noise. Switch the front and rear?
