Most don't look that good, however, if done right would be great!

The only scoop I can picture looking good on an SVX is one of the subtle ones, like on the Outback SUS or a Legacy GT.

Dayle's hood. The hood doesn't fit to the body very well. I have gaps between the hood and fender, but it's not bad.

I would still like to see someone do a functional hood scoop along the off center lines of the old Mustang SVO.

I've long thought that the SVX should have hood heat extractor vents, rather than a scoop, but I understand liking the scoop. I like the one on my Legacy.

A 2005+ Legacy (also used on the 2009+ Forester) hood scoop looks nice, and is gently integrated into the hood, rather than just sticking up like the pre-'08 Impreza, and older Legacy hood scoops do.

I often thought that the Silver SVX with the supercharger and custom intake manifold that needed a hood cutout, should have had a 2008+ WRX/STI hood scoop over that, even just to fit over the intake manifold.

Another nice one might be the Saabaru 9^2X. Similar to the newer Legacy, but a bit squarer on the sides, and not as deeply cut below the rest of the hood line.

Is there even a reason for a scoop? I would imagine if a top mount intercooler (Subaru Style) would even fit in the space, then yes. But just a scoop for scoops sake? The hood already is such a nice piece of steel!

I'd love to find something pre-fab that would do the trick - fiberglass, ABS, ...whatever. Unfortunately, most of the forward and cowl induction type scoops are either immense (accommodating for the width and front height are tricky), look like they are ridiculous when on anything but an old school pony car, or are total mismatches for the car (the late '60's Bronco scoop is a great dimensional fit, but... yech).

24" wide, 22" long, with at least 3.5" inside space in the front, and I'm good to go.

That one on Dayle's page is pretty close proportionally, but I can't source it for dimensions.

Re: hood scoop thread

scoop brings down underhood temps, something the SVX needs. That combined with an aluminum radiator phenolic spacers and perhaps some of the cooling mods discussed in the engine cooling again and again thread and you might just have a cool engine :)
