Which is worse??

Which is worse (more expensive) to fix:

A SVX with a speedometer drive gear inside the transmission not working (check engine light is always on as a result), power steering leak, lifter on driver's side noisy and A/C not functioning or...

A SVX with a cracked radiator that needs to be replaced and the vehicle occasionally stalls at idle (could be a dying fuel pump).

Any input would be most appreciative...

i would go with number 1 being worse. Radiator can be bought for like 2 or 3 hundred.

Ditto, plus the rad only takes about a half hour to install. The stalling problem may be something simple as an air leak or dirty throttle bodies, and even if it is the pump, can be replaced much easier than the speedo gear or a lifter.

Yeah, that's what I thought. Just wanted to make sure though. I'm deciding between 2 SVX's I found for sale. Guess I'll go with the second one then since the repairs are less. Thanks...

If anyone else has input, it would be appreciated. Anyone have a cost estimate on how much repairs like this would cost??

I kinda disagree with the fuel pump synopsis. Required fuel pressure is lower at idle. The problem is something else. No if it won't idle and has a drivability problem then it could be the fuel pump. Most idle problems are from air seepage, throttle body, or offset idle speed.

I do service work on Subaru's at my shop here in NJ. Find out what kind of work was done and what it needs and I'll give you a price. You might just need a 60/120 service to get the car right. You can search my references on here, just use my user name. Good Luck with your car search. SVXPERT
