Key Fobs in 1992
 

I am negotiating the purchase of a 1992 LS-L from the second owner, who bought it from a Subaru dealer in 1994.
He says the car did not come with electronic key fobs.
I assumed they all had the black-box-with-orange-button clicker, even in 1992?
Thanks for any intell on this key/alarm question.

100% that it came with a cicker

110% chance the security module that controls it, is failed.

They all failed.

you can buy a new module that may work and may get you programmed again, or not.
Is this something you absolutely have to have, or would you be better off spending that money to other repairs like wheel bearings and transmissions?

I bought my 92 LS-L new off the lot from the dealer. It came with two key fobs. They both still work as does the original factory security module.

So the second owner probably didn't get them from the original owner/dealer when he bought the car and didn't know to ask.

ALL 1992 SVXs came standard with anti-theft security AND power door locks, remote-controlled. This was from my window sticker when delivered new.

I bought my 1992 in 1993 and it came with key fobs. Security was even auto door lock on mine... Failed after about 5 years.
You could take it to a car alarm place and get Auto start installed and that gives you door locks... Cheap fix $200.
