GreenMarine 09-10-2005 07:19 AM

In all seriousness...

If you're referring to the 2003 350Z (3.5L VQ engine with 287hp/276 ft-lbs), the race wouldn't even be close. A 350Z runs the 1/4 around 13.8-14.4 depending on transmission (6spd or 5 auto) and driver. Most stock awd SVXs run the 1/4 anywhere between 15.5-16.0 (depending on options - i.e. weight).

If you're referring to a non-turbo 300ZX from '90-'96, the SVX would stand a better chance. A 5spd 300ZX runs the 1/4 in the 14.9-15.4 range depending on driver, while a 4EAT 300ZX runs the 1/4 around 15.5-16.0.

My transmission exploded on the highway, fire and brimstone everywhere! I'm currently looking for a diesel rabbit for a wvo project. Do you still have my rims? I figured you had your hands full with the fire and all. Just made me think, I told you I proably couldn't make a long distance trip. :D PM me.

About the 350z  a co-worker has one, and on a "closed course" I took him, with not much effort. It seemed strange with all that HP and less weight.

No worries Michael.... I still have "your Rims".... I have been thinking though, I might run the Subaru Challenge in Maggie Valley on them to see how 18" wheels are... I would like to switch to 17's, but at the same time, I really love the way that these things look when the car is moving!!! I still have them for ya though... I just need to work out what I will do after they are gone... Definitly right there, my hands are pretty full :-/..... If ya are looking for a Diesel Rabbit, I might beable to help ya out there too :).... I was thinking about selling my Rabbit when I go fulltime in school next year.... I am just tired of cars PERIOD.... If I hadn't invested so much time and $$$$$$ into the SVX, it would have been gone about a year ago.... I know that I just want to finish school, and if that takes me selling all my posessions to do so, then so be it...

i smashed on a 2004 350 auto by one and a half car links at 125 mph and slowed to a stop (i dont think he raced to much and he just bought the car). i also got my azz handed to me by my buddys 2005 350 manual. he killed me and i think my car had some gas problems but his was fast.

Sounds like he didn't do the driver mod. I need to do that one too.

Challenging with appereance, looks and peculiarity SVX wins all the time :D ;) with any car (not only 350Z). But if you come to race, 350Z will take on you. But I remember seeing a video clip where 350Z was killed by a WRX STi, one thing that was mentioned in it is 350Z stopped pulling from 3-4 and then pulled very lees form 4-5, whereas STi took on it from 3rd gear.

But SVX will stand out in any group of cars. :D

The 350Z's seem to be really peaky on power, so that 280hp number is a bit deceiving.

Also, an STi should kill a 350Z. It has a better torque curve, thanks to the turbo, has AWD, and is either the same weight or lighter.

I think this wrx will murder any 350z.

The figures are more impressive looking at STi than 350Z

STi - 300HP @ 6,000 rpm with 300 lb-ft @ 4,000 rpm AWD
2.5-liter DOHC 16-valve H4 SUBARU BOXER engine
3,351 lbs
350Z - 300HP @ 6,400 rpm with 260 lb-ft @ 4,800 rpm RWD
3.5-liter DOHC 24-valve V6 engine
3,328 - 3,347 lbs

Manarius -> That one is really awesome, I am also very interested in watching a video clip, if they post it.
But we dont need a car of such kind to kill 350zs, a stock STi can take it.

Sound sucks but still....
