simple bearing question
 

chalk this up to me being paranoid, I just bought these rear wheel bearings, and having never seen what they look like I just wanted to make sure these are the right ones before I punch the old ones out....

picture looks right, but that's a long way from confirming...

what was your source for the part? if Subaru, look up the part number it came with and compare to the online sources. if it was a BCA part number you're looking for 30208

I got the part from a local import parts place, (for 59 bucks a piece, I think I got a good deal).
I'm not sure of the part number this second, what I do know about them is that they are NTN bearings...

from everything that I read I thought that the inner and outer sleeves would both be plastic, that's why I got a bit concerned when I saw them.

They look exactly like the ones I just ut in. They may not be but we got ours at Checker Auto parts and they were correct, for once.

Make sure to clean as much of that clearish grease out as you can and repack with a high temp wheel bearing grease.

The one I got from the dealer is an NTN 4T-CR1-08A02.

That looks like the right part to me... I think the plastic you heard referred to was the little plastic retainer ring inside the bearing. That'll have to go in order to get the new one in.

Oh, and replace that crappy grease <grin>

yup, I checked it, and thats the one I have.
