Power Steering Leak

I noticed a recent post about the PS high pressure hose. Not having specifics about my own SVX's problems, I wanted to post my own question.

I have a leak somewhere, but not severe . I can top up the reservoir and go a week or so before refilling. Have no noise or hard steering, but fluid leak accumulates on the left side (facing the engine). I've degreased to see where it's coming from, and
it looks like it could be a gasket under the reservoir cover. Is this
a likelihood?

I see no specific hose problem, and have added Power Steering "stop leak" from time to time. It helps a little, but not a lot. I notice there are 2 Torx screws that appear to hold the cover down. Should I get a Torx driver and check them out? Is there a gasket replacement part # I should have? Or can I use
Permatex and make my own?

Advice appreciated!!

Sounds like an O-ring problem. I just did it to my '92 and it fixed the problem.
It should take you less than half an hour.
Here is the fix:

Hope it helps.

Thanks, Inline!

Sounds like the probable answer to my question. I printed out the info of the link, and will follow through.

I don't think it will. I have the same problem and I replaced my O-ring a few months ago. It still leaks.

Rob,

What have you done since replacing the "o" ring? Is it still just leaking. or have you investigated other possible fixes?

Fixing the O-ring is a cheap and easy job. I would try that before anything else. Go the inexpensive route then move up from there. If it does not work then you have spent less than $10 and less than an hour of work.

:D

I used a 4 dollar bottle of 'premium' NO LEAK power steering additive. It seems to have worked.... I think. I used it yesterday, and I dont see any drops under my car. I'll report back in a week and let you know.

It hasn't worked.

Darn. I don't really care though, ATF fluid is cheaper than a new hose. Heh.
