Freakin ski/bike rack!

I can not believe what a HASSLE it's been to get a freakin rack for this thing!
:(
i really wanted a hitch setup but NOoooooo that ain't gonna happen unless you hack the rear valance/bumper and then, even if, no ground clearance.
finally found these guys
http://rola.com.au/rola/
what a hassle trying to get them shipped, let alone the $$.
had to order thru
http://www.extremelimitsoffroad.com.au/
but they at least take paypal.
i figure if i'm spending $850 overseas i want some recourse if there's a problem.
only other place that i could order from wanted a telegraphic transfer, ala western union.
ARGH!! :angst:
though I finally bit the bullet and have got a rack system on the way.
:D

What did you decide on for brand and options? :)

WestCoastSVX 03-28-2008 01:07 PM

Judging by what he says in the first post, I'd guess he got a Rola (besides the fact I think they are the only ones that make one for the SVX). :D

One of these days we should do a group buy with these guys to try to get the price down and also then have them all shipped at once to reduce the overseas shipping costs.

I bought a universal roof rack from Canadian Tire that fits half-decently. I never used it though because the kit was incomplete and didn't have the hold-downs for the rear bar. Plus the rear bar would have pushed on one corner of the sunroof and been very close to the front one.

It was $35.

I would think.....

That you could just have one made??

well yes it's called a rola roof rack :)
i was more than willin to fab a hitch assy but after closer inspection........
i'd have had to at least hack some holes in the bumper assy.
i'm gettin the rola w/ 1 bike holder and a tall 4 ski rack.
that way it'll clear the sunroof.
at least i'll be able to use the ski rack,
next season after my blown knee gets repaired.

Rola is the ONLY manufacturer that currently makes a rack for the SVX... I only know because I've spent the last 3+ years looking...
