Sunroof drain blockage
I am 90% sure that I have the blocked sunroof drain leaking inside car problem that has been referenced a few times on the board.
BUT, as far as I can tell, nobody ever tells us how to clear the blockage. Sooooo, anyone have any secret tips on clearing the blockage? Do I have to pull the headliner/assembly? Wire; air; small mammal? All tips considered and appreciated. |
I think Raggot, the gerbil, is too big for this job.
Pulling the headliner is the right way to do the job, but sneaking/snaking a semi-rigid tube to each corner and using compressed air will work - IF you can see the drain openings. The downside to that method is too much air can blow the drain hose(s) off of the nipples and cause a nasty stain on your headliner the next time it rains. Removing the headliner really isn't that difficult, just remove everything - visors, mirror, grab handles, etc. and pop the trim loose. Fold the front seats forward and slide it out through the right-hand door. |
Once you get the head liner out, what do you do Beav? Can you see the hoses then?

Yup, you can see it all once the headliner is removed. Even if the sunroof need to be removed for really nasty accumulations, it only requires loosening four nuts. I can't imagine it taking anyone more than 2-4 hours, including a couple breaks. 'Sticking with it' time probably around 1-1 1/2 hours.
