It's aliiiiive

After 3 months, plenty of "almost there" moments, lots of parts, and even more $$$, my SVX is finally back on the road.

Unfortunately due to the previous little engine issue, the exhaust is full of oil, so it's still too smokey to drive on the road.

But at least it's feeling really strong.

Just need to figure out the quickest way to burn out the oil from the pipes, cat and muffler...

I bought a pair of pre cats soaked in oil. Thanks whoever you are. They made a 20' x 20' trail for about 15 miles. I'm surprised I'm not in jail for inducing nightfall :D

Yes had a few of those moments myself. Oops.

So what's the secret? Did you just run it til it burnt out?

I live in a heavily policed area, so I'm certain I wouldn't get away with that.

Probably about the same timing for me to get it properly back on the road (i.e. heater and aircon reconnected, final part replacements, and lose the smoke screen).

Baby due in a few weeks, so everything sort of goes on hold soon.

Luckily I have several other cars to choose from.

oh ok true , my heater is still bypassed
congratulations man :D,
i have one other car to choose from and in the last 2 years ive dropped a rod in 2 engines for it (its a 1.3L 4k-c 1983 corolla) i guess they were just a little tired after 28 years of driving with a 4 speed manual, coincidentally both times it was the 3rd rod that blew a 3"hole in the block just under the starter  on the plus side even tho the body is beat to hell and back im gunna paint it extremely similar to this

lol im gunna call it "general lee jr" should be fun explaining my reasons for doing so to the authorities

So do I that's why I'm surprised. About 15 miles and it was clean as a whistle. Just run it till it's all burned up. I guess higher rmps will help it find it's way to the back. Set your alarm for 3am and go on a night mission

Easy. I just need to wait a few weeks for my 2nd daughter to appear, and then I'll be up anyway, right? :D
