Removing Differential

I was wondering how easy/possible it is to remove the front differential from an svx. Basically making it rear wheel drive only. How much lighter would this make the car?

Also has anyone had a problem where the car stalls out while driving? I have replaced the air filter, fuel filter, and cleaned the MAF. This happnes while the car is cruising anywhere from 40 to 70 mph. Sometimes it happens when I let off of the accelerator. Help!

Any error codes? Possibly a crank/cam sensor?

I did read the codes a couple months ago, before the stalling, and I remember getting oxygen sensor and EGR solenoid. The car didn't start stalling until after I replaced the alternator.
