Help!!!!!

The pearlie I just bought last week blew the transmission yesterday.

Subaru wants $3900 to replace it, because they do not have the equipment to rebuild. How much would it cost for a rebuild at a private shop? Anyone have a used trans for sale or other suggestions?

I am moving to NC next Thursday and need to either fix it or sell it.

Anyone want to buy one for $2000? The engine has 119k on it.

I just paid $2,000 for a rebuild at an independent transmission shop. I would think it would be better to own an SVX with $5,900 invested that lose $1,900 so soon after buying it.

Man that really sucks, If I were you I wouldn't go to subaru...

Sorry to hear that Tom. You might check with CCR.

madj80 08-29-2006 11:23 PM

That's it. I am going to sell it.

$2,000 obo..... make me an offer

Everything beside the transmission is good (including unscratched windshield)
Body needs a little work on the driver's side door and front fender that's it

Motor has 119k and runs smooth

List of parts replaced by previous owner:

Water pump, timing and accessory belts, power steering pump, radiator (all OEM)

External trans cooler installed (so much for that preventing the trans from blowing up)

I have a couple pics on my profile.
PM me for more info

If you get a Subaru factory remanufactured transmission installed by the dealer, you will get a 2yr./24,000 mile warranty.

If you get a Subaru remanufactured transmission installed by the dealer, you will get a 2yr./24,000 mile warranty. Since it is a 92, be sure he gives you the $1200.00 core charge credit for your old transmission, which should be deducted from the installed price.

Many dealers won't tell you about this and keep that money for themselves. Be sure to ask for it.

That's too bad. You could spring for a transmission and be good to go for years in the SVX. Selling it at a loss is bad enough, but who knows what's liable to go wrong with your next ride? Good luck.

Next ride is a car with a warranty. Should have one by the end of today.

Now the decision is keep the car and transport it to North Carolina or make a quick sale in Denver. I would like to find someone on the network to buy it rather than your average used car buyer.

Where in NC?

madj80 08-30-2006 04:30 PM

I'm moving to Charlotte.

Thanks for everyone's advice. If I had the cash to have it fixed, I would.

If the car wasn't so nice, I would start parting it out. At this point I just need to get some of the money back.

Sold it this evening. Possibly a record for quickest buy and sell. Maybe one day I will own another SVX with a manual trans.
