Audi Quattro Concept Debut, the car Subaru refuses to build.

Subaru had their chance... Audi is taking over.

Here is the Audi Quattro Concept that's currently being debuted at the Paris Motor Show. We expect to get much more closely acquainted with the machine over the next couple of days, but until then, take a gander at the machine that Audi crafted to celebrate 30 years of Quattro performance.

Keep in mind that this sucker is packing 408 horsepower from its turbocharged five-cylinder engine and routing all those ponies through a six-speed manual gearbox to all four wheels, making for a power-to-weight ratio on par with that of the Audi R8 5.2 FSI. See the rest of the details here. A fitting tribute, if we do say so ourselves.
I would have rather had a boxer-powered Subaru successor to the SVX...

But if Audi sells this, possibly as the next-generation A5, I'll have to forgo a boxer engine.

Because other than that, this car has EVERYTHING over Subaru's offerings.

Subaru COULD have built a 3-door coupe. They haven't. They aren't.

YOU SNOOZE, YOU LOSE.

Is this the first ItalDesign car since their purchase by VAG? I really like that rear 3/4, kinda has that Giugiaro '80s look.

I can has?

A HOLE IN ITS FACE
YOUR CAR HAS

I will never, ever understand that grille-over-the-bumper thing. :barf: Otherwise, it's pretty nifty. :D

The whole FT-86 "Toyobaru" is outrageously unlikely - show me a single underhood shot? Ain't happenin'. :(

Ugly just like most of those Lotus cars. I don't like sharp angles on a car and that monster grill is hideous. Do you think they were concerned about airflow to the radiator?

I don't want Subaru to emulate anything Audi does. I have never like their cars.

Subaru had their chance and didn't take it. Why? There's no market for 2-door AWD coupes. Heck, there's pretty much no market for two door coupes unless they're civics, or 2-door cobalts, or something like that.

The market isn't asking for expensive 2-door cars. They have the Camaro, Mustang, and Genesis Coupe and it's not like GM, Ford, or Hyundai are banking on those to make them some money.

I certainly hope that you're being sarcastic.

That first link is two ricer boys in some bastardized coupe. The second link is to concept pictures that have been floating on the internet for like 5+ years.

It's a real car, and it is currently on the schedule to be produced. Whether or not there will be a Subaru variant may be open for question, but it seems to me that it would be a natural progression; Toyota 2wd @ $20K, Subaru AWD + more power @ $30K.

EDIT: Car & Driver seems to think there will be a Subaru version:
