Synthetic ATF in Power Steering?
I'm using Mobile one synthetic ATF in transmission. Can I use it in Power Steering?
Thanks, Tom |
Doesn't it require powersteering fluid? or were you talking about the synthetic part? synthetic is fine but ATF in the power steering unit don' think so.

I can't imagine why not. Factory spec is to use ATF in the power steering pump. (I suspect most OTC "power steering" fluids are little more than ATF with a price premium.) Read the copy on the container thoroughly to be sure the manufacturer doesn't caution against such use.

Just about every Subaru uses ATF as power steering fluid. The only exception I can think of is the XT6. Dave |
Yeah the manual says ATF in the power steering.

I am using Castrol SuperSyn (supersynthetic ATF) in both my tranny and P/S... 3 years now. ;)

Maybe you need to change yours if you are using powersteering fluid. |
Nope just never checked into doing anything with mine.... other than to see that the level was fine. Sorry just didn't know *think* was used in the first post as were question marks.
