Cold start problems

When my car hasn't been used for a day...or when its really cold in the morning...i will turn the key and the engine will start right up...the tach will drop and then sometimes the car will die out. It starts right up the next time...rough start...and i have to hold the gas so it idles properly. I'll hold it up for a second and let go and everything is A ok again. Does the temp sensor need to be replaced?

That doesn't sound like the same problem. It sounds more like the IAC.

Reason: When my sensor died the engine would start but the moment I touched the gas it would stall. I had to let it idle for a while before I could go anywhere.

Idle air control? Is that what it is? What and where is that and how do i go about cheking it?

It's attached to the throttle body and it's not the TPS :)

The last time I cleaned the throttlebody I used Mercury Powertune and I guess it leaked down to clean up the IAC as well.

Pictures would help :D . I guess friday I will take the intake tube off and see if the throttle body needs some cleaning.

Sounds more like the Auxilary Air valve, under the left side of the manifold is not working. It should hold a fast idle for about 1 minuite after a cold start, before coming down to the IAC valve.

Harvey. ;)
