Nothin' better to do...

It's nice when you get to work and boss says to come back at 3pm.

That way I have all morning to actually do something productive

like shine up my interior.

Pictures kinda suck, but them's the breaks.

Here's what I used.

This gel stuff seems to work much better than the older creamy deal, and at 18 oz won't run out in 3 or 4 uses.
Microfiber waxing pads were great for very gently scrubbing the surface, letting the gel penetrate, and picked up the winter's blech.
Ran it under some hot water and most of the blech dame out.

Used some generic wiping pad things for the vinyl, not sure what to do about the escaine. Not sure what to do about the engine.

It's grease free for the moment minus that dex3 is spilled on the manifold. Need to figure out how to shine that thing up. :/

Still waiting on the overflow nozzle. S'why there's red/orange silicon hose coiled around the cap there.

Looking sweet Nik!

For the ecsaine, get yourself timberland boot cleaner. Its like this rubber eraser bat thingy and a brush. Lightly brush the ecsaine, run the bar over any crusty / dirty spots and brush clean. Works really good.
As far as the engine bay, foaming tire shine works wonders.Good for getting genral non-greese stuff from the hard to reach , easy to see places. It also makes all your rubber hoses look like new. I use Son of a Gun because its cheap, and theres some nascar guy on the front (A prerequesite for being available at Wal-Mart) You can use armorall on the plastic parts to shine the living bajeesus out of them.
Also keep an eye out for mothers mag and aluminum polish. Its this thick paste stuff, comes in a little can. basicly its a rub on,keep rubbing, rub off kinda deal.Use that on all your ac lines (Secret is out) as well as your radiator(Youll be using the radiator as a mirror when your done)
also, although it doesnt look like it, if your intake manifold is all oxidized, a brillo pad or similar product will remove that.
As far as that oil spill....Try simple green or a mixture of ajax and water, that should clean it right up

Edit: Looking back, im guessing that "Shine that thing up" refers to the intake manifold rather than the whole engine bay.....Whoops

Yeah I was referring to the manifold alone but good info nonetheless. Saturday when the brackets were being R&Ded I sprayed the whole engine with Castrol Super Clean and hosed it off. All the aluminum suddenly developed that hazey thing it does when it oxidizes, and the radiator was too hot to really shine up despite much rubbing from a good polish.

Also I don't have any ac lines, or ac compressor. ;)

Lol, I just noticed.
Guess you really dont need em much in Alaska.

intelisevil 04-12-2006 09:27 PM

Actually, I would think A/C (Defrost) would be very useful in Alaska?

I know my wife tracks a lot of snow into her SVX and the only way to dry out the interior is to run the Defrost.

NikFu S. 04-12-2006 10:20 PM

Defrost works without A/C.

Defrosting occurs even without having defrost on as engine heat is wafted through the vents on the outside, but when I press DEF blazing hot air blasts from the top vents like a furnace.

When the temp is really cold, the regular heater also blows up top.

Though now, when I press DEF, the furnace is accompanied by a troubling click click click.
