Passenger side noise/problem, Help Please

I have a simialar post in Chris's Forum but I was told this is a better place to get more responses so I am posting here too.

Well, I was wondering if I could get a little help diagnosing this problem.

Here is what is happening.

1. When the car is put in reverse or a drive gear the passenger side wheel makes a clunking noise. It goes clunk.....clunk....clunk... and gets louder if you go faster. So, I only drove a 1/2 block and turned around.

2. When I put the car up on jacks, place it in neutral, and spin the wheels; the passenger wheel sort of catches, sticks just a little bit, about 2-3 times a rotation. The driver side spins free.

3. The speedometer is not registering at all.

I think it is the CV but I am not certain. I am also confused about the speedometer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

You don't say if it is the front or back wheel. I guess it is the front. The speedo not working too.

The speedo runs .off the right hand side of the front diff. It is known to strip the drive gear so speedo won't work, could make the noise.

The noise could also be the CV joint going clunk. Could also be the front diff. Does the AWD work to drive the back wheels? if not this can cause the front diff to have trouble.

Harvey. ;)
