Did you buy just one side? I guess it could be the wrong label? How much too big? I sure hope he doesn't think it'll just slide in. I'd be happy to overnight the one I took out last year to ya.

I hope you took it to a Subaru shop, otherwise the chances are pretty good that you will be replacing it again before too long. The SVX bearings are the same as far as procedure goes as a Forester, Legacy, etc... except the one problem I had was the hub adaptor for the slide hammer to get the hub off didn't have the wider bolt pattern for the SVX so I had to knock it out from behind with a brass drift.

This is suppose to fit the SVX, but I believe the mechanic thinks it just slides in and I have two bearings.

HI, I replaced both of the bearings in the rear of my 92 myself. Lets just say that they don't come out or go in easy. It was quite the task pressing them out and in. It was a very very slow process. You might think that they would fit at first. I got mine from subaru so, I can't much about the timken. Do forget to make sure they change the grease to. Good luck.

What tool did you use to do it yourself?

Thanks,

I use a 10000 pound press with some sockets at the shop w/ some steel plate to level the hub off. It was easier to put the bearings in the to get them out.

Thanks!

With no press, I will revert back to plan A and just take them and have them pressed out and in.

Thought I might find another way.:(

Anything we can do ourselves we can be assured it is done correctly.

Make sure the number on the box matchs the number on the part (it will be laser typed on the side of the bearing. Misboxs from Timkin are not uncommon unfortunately.
